Start with three things: a grinder, a way to consume (papers or a simple pipe), and airtight storage. A lighter and basic cleaning supplies round it out. Everything else — bongs, vaporizers, fancy glass — is an upgrade, not a requirement.
Glass gives the cleanest flavour and is easy to clean but breaks if dropped. Silicone is nearly indestructible and great for travel, with a slightly muted taste. If it lives at home, go glass; if it travels, go silicone.
It's the highest-value accessory. Evenly ground flower burns slower and more evenly, rolls better, and packs bowls more consistently. Even a cheap 2-piece grinder noticeably improves every session.
A dry-herb vaporizer heats actual flower without burning it, for a cleaner taste and less smell. A vape pen uses oil cartridges — those are covered in our vapes guide. Dry-herb devices are an accessory; the flower itself is bought separately.
Soak it in isopropyl alcohol with coarse salt, then shake — the salt scrubs off resin. Rinse thoroughly with hot water and let it dry. A quick rinse after each use and a full clean weekly keeps flavour fresh.
In an airtight, opaque container — ideally glass — with a humidity pack around 58–62% RH, kept cool and dark. This preserves potency and terpenes far better than the bag or plastic tube it came in.
